“Do you know," Peter asked, "why swallows build in the eaves of houses? It is to listen to the stories.” ~ J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

if you stand still long enough, you'll grow wings

the imperfections of summer.

the torn carpet, the chipped toenail polish,
the pound cake you have for breakfast leaving crumbs you won't find until night.
my god, the laziness and books and sunshine and no shoes needed.
your hair pulled up in a ponytail that always leans to the left.

it does not get any better.

  1. why IS it that the ponytail always leans to the left ?? mine does too.
Can it BE???? that it is telling me I am too old for ponytails? No. Can't be.
and barefoot is a requirement. NO shoes until the snow comes again.
But that makes for very dirty feet each day!

  3. Our thoughts echo one another; I've just posted (only my third post) about days of summer past and the feeling that it doesn't get any better. This summer here does feel like it could get just a titch better because it is kinda cool. But hey - it is summer none the less! Happy Friday!
