“Do you know," Peter asked, "why swallows build in the eaves of houses? It is to listen to the stories.” ~ J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

tuesday's heart

february is a womb and i am curled inside.

"all the hardships of the last nine months will fall away as you prepare for something miraculous to happen."*

it was a hard tuesday, plumbing disasters, hard pain again, that feeling of if i knew where to run and i had the money to do so, i would go.  that feeling of being trapped by all the decisions i've made in my life, one of those days when every one of them felt like the wrong turn taken.

rounding the curve of the sidewalk, silently cursing, i looked up from my path and there it was.

when you stop looking, the hearts find you.

2013 magic. hearts.

they follow me everywhere and lay themselves at my feet, but when i call for them they hide.  they are tiny and nestled behind shadows or sleeping in tree limbs, or they are almosts  or not quites, and therein i think lies a lesson about love and hearts.  and maybe life.

they will come.  all of them.  the hearts, the love, the goodies, the gifts, the magic - indeed they are out there right now waiting for us to stop trying so hard.  waiting for us to just slow down and look, to stop pushing them to come when we whistle.  they will always show up with a box of chocolates and smiles, always, a surprise in an otherwise humdrum day.  they like that surprise part, they like the delight in our eyes and the giggles in our soul.  this i know to be true.  trust me.

this post is part of the year of ordinary magic, with kelly and graciel and i.  we'd love to have you join us - details are right here.

february begins with a heart.
