“Do you know," Peter asked, "why swallows build in the eaves of houses? It is to listen to the stories.” ~ J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

christmas eve morning. silent night begins.

the year is fading away.
falling soft into the past,
into behind us, gone, adieu;
catching our kisses as we blow them its way.
este año de dolor, adios.

christmas eve morning and all is calm.

there are cocoa dusted dark chocolate almonds to be packaged,
kishu mandarin oranges y topo chicos in white cups,
ribbons to be tied,
one last gift to buy.
it is cold outside and filled with gray skies,
with a quiet rain, with the tiniest of raindrops.
christmas, she be coming,
and she be bearing gifts.

hold out your hands and catch them.
within the silence are songs of angels.

    I feel, any words I put down here will upset the peace I feel in this moment.
