“Do you know," Peter asked, "why swallows build in the eaves of houses? It is to listen to the stories.” ~ J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

Car wash therapy

If I could find an automated car wash that just charged you by the minute,
I would willingly pay for 1/2 hour here,
an hour there.

I cannot tell you how often I have just kicked back in a car wash,
iced coke at my side,
silence on the stereo,
a book in my lap which I never read.
Absolute peace.
I recommend it highly.

Just sit back and listen to the swoosh.
In the womb.
No words.
Just you and the water,
the swooshing lulling you to sleep,
saying there, there.

Just you and your breath and the water.

I sure hope it's included in the health reform bill.
Health, dental & mental.

  1. perfect! it should be covered, indeed. hmmm my car is pretty dirty :)

  2. I have loved the car wash since I was very little. I love watching the brushes and foam, and it is always pleasantly cool, a separate world. I didn't know anyone else ever thought about it.

  3. :-) i have always been a fan myself, glad to hear i am in good company, xo

  4. Aha! I knew it. We are secret sisters kidnapped at birth.

I love chillin' at the car wash. How funny. The one in our dinky town has an extra rainbow wax that you can pay a bit extra for.

    We always do.

  5. I'm with ya! You take the front seat, I'll take the back. Turn the radio up!

  6. isn't that funny. i love a car wash for the same reason. just the other day my son offered to get my car washed and i refused. no no i will get one myself. i wouldn't pass up a car wash for anything. so soothing.

come. sit under the emma tree & let's talk. i have cookies . . .
