“Do you know," Peter asked, "why swallows build in the eaves of houses? It is to listen to the stories.” ~ J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

Waiting

detail of almost-finished mixed-media painting

I'm not even sure of the size - 16x16, I think.
90% completed.
But the last 10% is the hardest.
:)

Another piece for my upcoming show.
The stillness of waiting.
I am so loving this paper

  1. I just read through all of your blog that I've missed ( about 15 posts or so)
Beauty, that is what your words and images are.
I HAVE to visit more often.
    Thank you.

  2. Eilandkind - I mentioned to Robin yesterday that I seem to have ESP lately. Maybe I do. I have been thinking about you, and just last night thought I needed to look you up & see what you were doing. :)

  5. Paula - It's a change from my "normal" stuff. A new direction. I'm liking it a lot. Using colors I always wanted to use, but felt were just not "real" art colors. You know, deep, dark, painful! LOL!

  10. Julie - I do love it. But when I get it is the brown of a paper-bag, and as I told Bridgette the other day, it can take hours to get it where I want it to be. The color I want, the tone, the contrasts. But that's always the fun part - I get lost in it.

  11. i love this so much. i know what you mean - the last 10% is always the hardest and takes me the longest for some strange reason.
I wish that I could come to your show.

  14. Relyn - Oh, but so silly! (But you will appreciate that!) Last night I added the hanger-dealy-thingy to the back of this piece, and attached it to the side! instead of the top. And the screws are so tiny! It will require real magic to remove it. But I have faith in the ever-wonderful Michael. I just haven't told him yet.
