“Do you know," Peter asked, "why swallows build in the eaves of houses? It is to listen to the stories.” ~ J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

The time has come

. . . to gather these leaves in my arms

ginkgo tree 2008

Each morning on my way to work I pass this tree.
It sits at the corner where I make my turn from home to business.
2 blocks away.
I sit in my car,
point the camera & quickly shoot
before a car is behind me,
telling me to move on.
in the fall i think of sting's fields of gold

  1. I love Gingko trees. There's a couple of them at the UNM campus where I used to work. One fall, I gathered a bunch of leaves and pressed them. Being the packrat that I am, I still have them!
I love what you did with the image too.

  2. Let them honk.

My world needs more beauty that comes exactly in the shape your lenses provide. Gorgeous!

  3. gingko trees are some of my favourites... these photos are simply wonderful

  4. I love the way you captured the moment.

  5. To them I also say, "Honk Away!" These are exquisite!

  6. Oh I love these!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reminds me of a big old oak tree that I have been meaning to take seasonal shots of.

From one tree hugger to another, I hope you are having a fabulous weekend my friend.

  7. The tree can display change without moving, and I think it's great that you were doing the same as you share her story!

  8. I am such a tree lover...and this one is stunning!!

    Thanks for showing it here...:)

  9. Paula - Mary's tree is just now going golden. I plan on gathering a bunch of leaves from there. Being her tree, it somehow means a bit more to me.

Relyn - I laughed & laughed. Let them honk! You are so right!

Polona - I think this tree is my very favorite, but then the catawba tree blooms in the spring & then that lovely pale pink crepe myrtle blooms a bit later, and well . . . I change my mind a lot.

Suvarna - I will let them honk! :)

Jaime - Oh, you should take the oak's pictures. They would be just gorgeous, and I could say maybe I inspired you a little?! :)

Mermaid - You always see the obvious, even when it's hidden. A magic trick, I'm thinking. Thank you!

Celeste - I am late finding "tree love" - I grew up in the desert & love it still, but now love learning about the trees also.

    Thank you all so much.

    :) Debi
